We support files created in the following programs: Adobe InDesign, Adobe PageMaker (version 7.5 or earlier), QuarkXPress (version 5.0 or earlier), Adobe Illustrator (eps, ie, pdf), Adobe Photoshop (psd, tif, bmp) and Adobe Acrobat (pdf).

You can send your files compressed in Stuffit (sit), WinZip (zip) or Self Extracting Archives (sea).

If you send us an unsupported file compressed in an archive, we do not make any guarantee that we will be able to use the file. When the compressed file is opened, and we see the working file you have sent, then we will make every attempt to use it. If we cannot you will be contacted by our Customer Service department.

Artwork Requirements

Camera-Ready Artwork
Camera-ready artwork means the artwork can be scanned without further preparation or changes on the part of Pyramid. Pyramid reserves the right to decide if a previously produced document is usable copy for reorders. A camera/scan ready document or negative must meet the following requirements:

  • The exact size of the finished form or printed document must be the same
  • No alterations, corrections, reduction or enlargement of the copy or other changes are requested
  • The document is protected by cardboard when delivered to Pyramid
  • The copy must be furnished flat or rolled, not folded or stapled
  • Printed on white paper
  • No screen or process color involved
  • ½" lock-up/gripper space must be available
  • Carbon removed or chemical carbonless sets interleaved to prevent smudging
  • If the form or printed document is two or more colors, separate pages/copy must be provided for each color with the alignment marks clearly indicated

Any typesetting, stripping or additional work will be billed the appropriate additional charges. Approval from Distributors will always be obtained before beginning this work. This may cause a delay in your order delivery. Orders not receiving artwork within 24 hours of order acceptance will be re-acknowledged with a later in-plant production delivery date. Please send artwork promptly.

Clear Copy
Clear hand-printed copy should be submitted when necessary. When pen or pencil hand-drawn copy is supplied, exact font, font size and layout spacing measurements must be given or copy must be mounted on appropriately ruled spacing charts showing horizontal and vertical spacing. Facsimile or photo static copy is not acceptable for spacing/layout determination.

Imprint Logos
Black and white logo's are always printed free of charge on any imprinted product. All colored logos should be provided as color separated black and white pages or digital files as described in these artwork specifications. Pyramid does not alter logo quality prior to printing, only logo dimensions. Please be aware that logos provided to Pyramid of lower than 600 DPI will be significantly reduced in quality when scaled to fit imprint products and reproduced. Please specify if any alteration or limitations are required for your logo imprint. Applicable typesetting fees may apply and the distributor will always be notified before work begins. Facsimile or photo static logo copy is not acceptable as final artwork, but can be used as a reference source by the distributor.

Digital Artwork
It is the dealer's responsibility to maintain a copy of the original computer file. For verification of colors and placement, a hard copy is required along with the electronic file. The plant is not responsible for accidental damage to media supplied by the Distributor or for the accuracy of the furnished input or final output. Until the plant can evaluate digital files, no claims or promises are made about Pyramid's ability to work with jobs submitted in digital format, and no liability is assumed for problems that may arise. Any additional translating, editing or programming needed to utilize Distributor-supplied digital files will be charged at the appropriate rate. Orders not receiving artwork within 24 hours of order acceptance will be re-acknowledged with a later in-plant production date. Please send artwork promptly.

Artwork may be supplied to Pyramid via 3.5" diskette, CD-ROM, email (artwork@pyramidchecks-printing.com) or digitally uploaded via our website. Always include your purchase order number when submitting artwork digitally to Pyramid. PC format files are preferred. Please add one day to in-plant production for MAC-based files.

FTP Site Available
FTP transfer service for your digital artwork or logo is available on our web site at www.pyramidchecks-printing.com. The site will prescreen your file for basic file type compatibility and confirm via e-mail to our order entry, prepress and you the date and time the file was received. Using the FTP site to transfer digital files and logos increases the efficiency of order processing and provides you confirmation that all Pyramid parties are notified of your incoming order.

Acceptable File Formats
The following programs are preferred for imprint and commercial jobs:
Windows / McIntosh: Illustrator, Photoshop, PageMaker, Quark 5.0 or lower, Indesign, Acrobat
File Formats: .ai, .eps (with fonts converted to outlines), .bmp, .tif, .psd, .pmd, .qxp, .inn, or .pdf.
Line art should be at 600 DPI minimum. Gray scale for commercial orders only should be at 300 DPI minimum. Multicolored files must use spot colors, not CMYK process, or RGB.
Jobs that involve file formats other than those listed here may incur additional prepress charges. Please call customer service prior to submitting an order for approval.

Requested Proofs-Prepress
Pyramid will submit prepress proofs (B & W and/or PDF) along with original copy for the Distributor's review and approval upon distributor request. Digital proofs for camera ready samples, non-digitally supplied artwork are not available. Proofs and any corrections must be returned signed by the distributor using Pyramid's "Proof & Correction" document sent with each proof. No additional work will be completed on a job until this document is received. Pyramid makes every attempt to review copy and digital output of files for accuracy. However, Pyramid cannot be responsible for undetected production errors if the Distributor does not require a proof or the job is printed per the Distributor's "approval."

Samples
Samples of each printed order are always provided to the Distributor with the Pyramid invoice.

Typesetting required for imprinted banking products is always no charge. Please refer to the following chart for standard composition rates on commercial printing.
